On June 6, the Ulster County arts community will gather in Saugerties to celebrate the enduring impact that the arts has on the regional economy as well as the people living in our community.
The 10 honorees illustrate the broad reach of the arts, from activism and volunteerism to businesses and arts educators.
Serving as special guest MC will once again be Ann Citron, Theatre Arts Director at the Rosendale Theater. A founding member of the Rosendale Theatre, Ann is an actor, director, and producer and has worked in theaters throughout the Hudson Valley, including County Players in Wappingers Falls, The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck, SUNY New Paltz Summer Repertory, Denizen Theatre in New Paltz, and Ulster County Community College. Ann has also taught Improvisation throughout the Hudson Valley, as well as at New York University’s Clive Davis School of Performing Arts in Manhattan.
Chuck Lamb will be performing music at the awards ceremony. Chuck has been as been the pianist for the Brubeck Brothers Quartet for nearly two decades and has composed for and played with the Quartet all over the world, including the Newport Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, the Blue Note Tokyo, Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, Singapore with the Chinese National Orchestra, and more. Chuck is currently artist-in-residence for the popular monthly “Jazz at Caffe Lena” series in Saratoga.
The Ulster County Executive’s Arts Awards build on the success and endurance of the Dutchess County Executive’s Arts Awards, which have been recognizing artistic excellence since 1986. Arts Mid-Hudson is a regional arts organization that distributes funding and serves as an advocate for the arts, artists and arts organizations in Ulster, Dutchess and Orange counties.
